Daily Shampoo and Benefits of Frequent Shampooing

Daily Shampoo and Benefits of Frequent Shampooing

Shampoo is a type of cleaning agent that is used on hair. In most cases, the cleaning agent comes dissolved in a liquid. The liquid solution is massaged into wet hair, and creates a lather that breaks up deposits of oil and dirt. The lather is then rinsed from the hair after a few minutes, leaving the hair clean. Shampoos have a number of qualities that should be considered before use. How well a shampoo cleans is very important, and individual brands usually come in slightly different formulations for either “normal” or “oily” hair. The fragrance that a shampoo leaves in the hair is also a major consideration, and is why scented shampoos are so popular. Other factors often taken into account include how shiny the shampoo makes the hair, possible irritation of the scalp, toxicity, price, if organic ingredients have been used, and whether or not the shampoo has been tested on animals.

There are many different categories of specialty shampoos, with each type claiming to have properties beyond cleaning hair. A few of these categories are: lice killing shampoos that help get rid of lice infestations; anti-dandruff shampoos that often contain fungicides, chemicals that can assist in removing white flakes in hair; clarifying shampoos that remove hair-care product buildup; baby shampoos that are specially formulated to be gentle; thickening shampoos that purport to make hair fuller; straightening shampoos that make hair less curly; 2-in-1 shampoos that contain conditioners; and dry shampoos that can be used without water.

Having healthy hair and maintaining the existing ones is getting so hard these days. Things like pollution, busy lifestyle, poor diet and stress are of the culprits that cause unimaginable damage to our hair on a daily basis. If not provided with proper and timely attention, this damage can be irreversible and horrible, beyond imagination. Well, there are a few things that a person can do for health and longer life of the hair and that is to wash the hair on a regular basis. Washing hair with proper beauty product is actually the basic thing considered for body hygiene. There are many professional hair care products that can be very useful for hair care and washing ones hair. Daily shampooing can damage your hair if you do not use the correct products. To prevent this from happening, make sure the daily shampoo is nourishing, that it contains the ingredients to address your problems, and that it is not too harsh.

Daily Shampoo

Shampooing your hair daily can strip away the nutrients and oils that help keep your hair healthy. One way to prevent damage is by looking for shampoos that have natural ingredients. This is especially true when those ingredients are known for nourishing and strengthening the hair. The more synthetic chemicals there are in a product, the greater the chances are that it should not be used as a daily shampoo for extended periods. Hair washed daily generally requires a lot of nourishment. Before you purchase your daily shampoo, decide if you will also use a conditioner daily. If not, choose a 2-in-1 shampoo that will condition your hair when you wash it.

Also consider your styling habits. Many hair care products produce optimal results when they are used with other products in their range. Try to choose a brand of daily shampoo that offers the other products you will need, such as leave-in conditioner, glosser, and hair spray. If you are looking for a daily shampoo for a particular problem, make sure the product contains ingredients that can help you to solve that problem. This involves more than believing the claims on the front of the bottle or those made in advertisements. You need to analyze the ingredients to make sure you do not become a victim of creative marketing. An anti dandruff shampoo, for example, should contain special ingredients to remove and prevent dandruff.

Permed and colored hair should be washed with products designed for treated hair. This is especially true when you wash your hair daily. If your hair is permed or dyed and you do not use the appropriate daily shampoo, you are likely to find yourself spending more money to have these treatments done more often. Make sure the shampoo you purchase is one that is truly suitable as a daily shampoo.

There is a lot of confusion regarding the number of times one must wash the hair. Well, to be frank, one can wash his/her hair for as many times as he likes and as per convenience. There is no limit to that, but when talking about the health of the hair, there comes several restrictions on the frequency.

How Often Hair be Washed?
Everyone wants to have great looking hair that possess natural shine and color. Keeping both these things intact requires several efforts from the individual too. Washing hair is one of the basic efforts that a person has to take to maintain the health of the hair. How often actually depends upon two basic things that are needed to be evaluated as individual reasons. Before that, here are some hair care tips.

Hair Type
Hair type plays a vital role for determining the frequency of washing it. If your hair are thick, you can even wash them daily. But for dry hair, you must wash hair only for a couple of times a week. For normal hair, people can wash hair every alternate days and as per their convenience. There are a few important things that are needed to be considered when washing dry hair and that is to condition them well before and after washing.

Lifestyle
Lifestyle is also very important to decide the number of times one should wash the hair. People who constantly work in dry and air conditioned places, must wash their hair twice a week and must also apply proper conditioners, afterward. If you work in a place where your hair gets much oily and dusty, too quickly, then you must wash them on alternate days. Then how often should you wash your hair if you exercise? Well, if you do exercises that cause a lot of sweating then you must wash the hair daily. But, if you do mild exercises like yoga, then there is no need to be hasty and you can sure wash hair as per the regular schedule.

Benefits of Frequent Shampooing
1. You take your hair and scalp to the same places you take your face, and it gets just as dirty. Clean hair reflects light better and so has a glossier and shinier finish.

2. A clean scalp encourages your hair to grow at its optimum rate.

3. Build-up of oils, dirt and sweat on your scalp can lead to dandruff and clogged follicles - both conditions which can affect your rate of hair growth and also your hair’s general appearance.

4. If you are already prone to dandruff and a flaky/itchy scalp, daily shampooing helps to remove the excess skin and clear up visible flakes. This is especially true if you use a shampoo specifically formulated to clear dandruff.

5. Shampooing hydrates your hair. It is in fact moisture (water), not oil, content that keeps your hair supple and elastic. 'Natural oils' on your scalp simply sit on top of your hair, but do not penetrate the cuticle or cortex.

6. Daily shampooing encourages the use of a daily conditioner, which will help keep your hair shiny and tangle free. Conditioning also smoothes your hairs’ cuticles, which helps to protect your cortex from damage and dryness.

7. Frequent shampooing removes unpleasant hair/scalp odour. If grease and sweat are left on your scalp for too long, bacteria starts to break them down and creates the equivalent of B.O. on your scalp.

Washing Hair
Apart from lifestyle and hair type, there are certain other things that need to be considered too. Men are not much conscious about washing hair and taking proper hair care. Well, men do need to take as much precautions as women and they must wash their hair on a daily basis. Not only the number of times but the washing procedure and after care also plays a vital role in hair care.

The aftercare includes hair care products that one uses. application of conditioners, proper hair washing techniques, type of shampoo and conditioners one uses and the quantity of the same, play an important role. Many times, people use right shampoo but with excessive amount, that can really damage the hair no matter how often you wash your hair. It is very important to massage the hair with any of essential oils like coconut oil or almond oil for hair and leave it on hair overnight. Then wash the hair on the next day. It is very essential to apply proper hair conditioner on the washed hair.

Daily Shampoo

Also, washing African-American hair is not a big issue and it depends on the sort of hairstyle that one is sporting and the time that he has in hand. You can wash them once a week but if the hairstyle is much complex then it will require enough time to clean it. Make sure you have plenty of time before you decide to wash the hair.

The Right Way to Shampoo Hair

• When shampooing your hair you need to shampoo in a certain way to remove all the unwanted residue from your scalp and hair.

• For shampooing your hair use only lukewarm water, avoid using hot water. Using hot water for shampooing your hair will make your glands more active and they will start producing more oil. So, use lukewarm water and wet your scalp and hair.

• Then take some shampoo in your palm and start vigorously massaging your scalp with circular, and up and down motion of your finger. Do this for a minute and then apply shampoo to your hair too.

• If you have long hair then avoid piling them up on your head. After this wash your scalp and hair clean. When you are washing your scalp with water again rub the scalp surface till the shampoo comes out and you can get a squeaky sound by rubbing the scalp.

• If you have very oily hair, then you might need another application of shampoo. So, again shampoo your hair with the same above steps. However, this time you can keep the shampoo on your head for 2 minutes. In the meantime you can scrub your body, and then finally wash your head too.

• If you have oily scalp with dry ends, then apply conditioner to the hair ends. Never apply conditioner or conditioner based shampoo on the scalp. Conditioner should always be used on the ends if they are dry, and never near the roots.

As always, all damaged hair shampoo should be followed by an extremely moisturizing conditioner. Using a conditioning mask at least once a week is an even better idea.
