Lipstick With SPF

Lipstick With SPF

So when you go out to the beach you would normally apply sun block to parts of your body that is exposed to protect it from the sun right? But you have neglected a spot that is also exposed to the sun a lot. Your lips also need to be protected from the sun as well or they will get damaged. The products that you can purchase that has lip SPF are lip balm, chap stick, lip stick, liquid lipstick, and lip gloss. All of these products can contain lip SPF and you will be smart to buy it if you are going out into the sun.

Using sunscreen is almost always the first suggestion proposed by dermatologists. They also agree that wearing sunscreen on the lips is extremely important as the lips have little or no natural protection from the sun. Wearing a lipstick with SPF can provide the protection that your lips need to fend off premature aging and skin cancer from sun exposure.

As a general rule, try to buy lipstick with SPF 15 or higher for adequate sun protection. This rule actually applies to other cosmetics as well. Foundations, moisturizers, and cosmetic facial powders with sun protection of at least SPF 15 can all help protect the skin from sun damage.

Lipstick With SPF

Opaque lipstick is more likely to provide greater protection against the sun than clear or translucent lip glosses. Even if an individual does not wish to wear a bold lip color on an everyday basis, a nude, lip-colored opaque lipstick might be a better choice to shield the lips from the sun. Lip balms sometimes offer SPF as well, and can be used in place of more noticeable lip color. Men, as well as women who do not wear heavier lipsticks and lip glosses, might benefit from these lip balms with sunscreen.

Dermatologists do recommend avoiding applying very shiny, clear lip gloss to bare lips. The clear, shiny glosses tend to direct sunlight to the lips and increase the likelihood of sun damage occurring to the lips. For those who do not wish to part with the look of shiny lip glosses, the damage can be minimized by layering the lip gloss on top of an opaque lipstick with SPF. This lipstick can be a nude lip color to maintain the look of bare lips underneath the shiny gloss while still providing protection from the sun.

Wearing a lipstick with SPF should provide adequate protection for everyday wear, but it is important to step up the sun protection if an extended day in the sun is planned. Some sunscreens are made specifically for use on the delicate skin of the lips and offer a higher SPF than a lipstick. If possible, apply the sunscreen to the lips first before layering on a lipstick with SPF to maximize lip protection. As with sunscreen on the rest of the body, it is important to reapply every couple of hours, especially when swimming, sweating, or doing any other activities that may remove the sunscreen and reduce its effectiveness.

Anti Aging Tips For the Lips
1. Avoid constantly licking your lips. Contrary to popular belief, licking your lips has no moisturising or hydrating effect at all. As a matter of fact, licking your lips can actually dry them out. Saliva contains digestive enzymes that evaporates quickly as you lick, leaving your lips drier than before you licked them. Dry, cracked and chapped lips can make your face look ugly so enough with the licking.

2. Avoid unprotected sun exposure. Just like our facial skin, our lips can also get damaged when exposed to the sun. The sun's UV rays can darken, wrinkle and dry out the lips, making you look old and lifeless. To prevent this, try to avoid the sun between 11 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon because that is when the sun is at its strongest. If you really need to go outside, make sure to use a lip balm with SPF and reapply it after a couple of hours to protect your lips from damage.

3. Wear lip balm with sun protection factor (SPF). Sunscreen is an essential product of every skin care regimen, but let us not forget our lips. Our lips also gets damaged by the sun's harmful UV rays if left unprotected. This is why it is important to wear a lip balm with SPF every single day. Apart from protecting the lips from sound damage, it also prevents discoloration, wrinkling, dryness and chapping.

4. Exfoliate lips regularly. It's a good practice to exfoliate your lips at least once a week. Exfoliation can help get rid of the dry and dead skin on the lip's surface. It can also help lighten lips that are discolored due to sun damage. To exfoliate your lips, you can use a mixture of sugar and olive oil or if you want something fancy, you can buy those flavored lip scrubs in the market. Make sure to moisturize your lips after exfoliating them.

5 Avoid smoking. Smoking is one of the primary causes of both the wrinkles in the skin around the lips and the lips itself. It also dries out the lips which can make it look unhealthy and old, so better ditch that stick before it's too late.

Lipstick with SPF will come in a lot of variety. So you will have a lot of choices. They come in many different flavors! from fruity to sweet. So you can choose any flavor that you like. Along with colors they come with a lot of flavors to choose from. They also come with different amounts of sun protection so be mindful of that.

Tips For Healthy-Looking Lips
1. If your lips become dry and start to peel, use some sugar and olive oil to exfoliate your skin and remove the accumulated dead skin cells.

2. Look for a lip product that has a base of beeswax, petroleum jelly, or paraffin. These products will seal moisture and stay on your lips longer in comparison to thinner balms and glosses.

3. Ditch the lip gloss and switch to a matte lip product with an SPF.

4. If you need to stick with lip gloss, apply a colored lipstick to your lips first and then add some shine. A colored lipstick with an SPF product is your best bet.

5. Opt for a lip gloss product with a minimum of SPF 30.

Selecting The Best Lipstick That Matches You

Selecting The Best Lipstick That Matches You

Lipsticks which are richer in color and texture than lip gloss are a cosmetic Product that is applied in Lips. It is used primarily to apply color to Lips. Most of the Lipsticks are red or reddish in color. This is because it stimulates arousal appearance. It also reddens the Lips and increases the blood flow. It intends to make to make the wearer more sexually attractive. A right lipstick can give you the right look and can be according to the occasion. Never try a lipstick which looks good otherwise and not on you. Many people make the wrong choice which just makes loss of good money.Cream lipsticks are also on a roll as they have many different color and varieties which protects your lips, but may keep your lips dry which can be a problem. It is very important to apply lip gloss which can give that deadly look. Always look for products which contain some valuable ingredient to take care of your lips.

Lipstick is available in a massive and varied selection of colors and shades with modern pigments. Many chemical ingredients are present in a typical Lipstick. Lipstick contains Pigments, Oils, Waxes and Emollients. In order to cover the odors and tastes of the other ingredients, perfume and flavoring may be added. While reviewing the history of Lipstick it's found that Lipstick does not have a known origin. Most of us lipstick-wearers don't give much thought to anything other than the color, how it feels on our lips and how much it costs. Although there are many different types of lipsticks and a vast array of colors, there are some basic ingredients. And that list of ingredients above is just a paltry few of the many substances that might be in the tube of lipstick in your purse. For many women, wearing lipstick for the first time is a rite of passage, and even if they wear no other makeup, they feel naked without it. Lipstick essentially began the modern cosmetics industry.

Best Lipsticks

The word "lipstick" can mean a lot of different things. Let's start with looking at the difference between a matte and a stain, and find out how some lipsticks can stay looking great throughout the day without any touch-ups. Choosing one is about more than just figuring out which color looks best on you. Most women have experienced the disappointment of buying a lipstick that they end up not using, so choosing the right type is just as important.

There are essentially five basic types:
• Matte - The strongest, darkest colors of lipstick are often mattes, because they contain a lot of pigment. Rather than being shiny, they deflect the light. Mattes can often be longer-wearing than shinier types of lipstick as well. Sometimes they aren't as flattering on thinner or wrinkled lips, because they don't contain as many moisturizing ingredients.

• Creme - This type of lipstick usually falls somewhere between mattes and glosses. Cremes contain more wax than mattes, so creme lipsticks protect the lips better than other types. However, they can also result in dry lips.

Lipstick That Matches You

• Shimmer - Also known as pearly or frost, shimmer lipsticks contain light-reflecting particles that may be mica, silica, synthetic pearl or even fish scales. Today, shimmers are more often used for special occasions and come in lighter colors.

• Long-wearing - The problem with all lipsticks is that they need to be reapplied at some point because they wear off, so this type of lipstick attempts to solve that issue. Some long-wearing lipsticks are very drying. The most long-lasting lipsticks are usually a two-part system consisting of a base and a gloss. The base may contain silicone oil, which seals in its color. Once it dries, you apply the colorless gloss for the shine. The gloss may be reapplied but the colored base stays put until you remove it, usually with a makeup remover.

What's in Lipstick?
A single lipstick can contain dozens of separate ingredients, and the exact blends are usually a closely guarded secret. They typically fall into a few categories: waxes, oils and fats, emollients, and pigments. The different types of waxes used in lipstick include beeswax, paraffin and carnauba wax. Wax stabilizes the stick and allows it to be molded into shape. There are also a number of different types of oils used in lipstick manufacturing, including lanolin oil, castor oil, olive oil and cocoa butter (this is where the cow brains come in a very inexpensive fat can be extracted from it). The oils and fats in lipstick keep it just the right texture soft enough to apply but firm enough to keep it from melting. Emollients make the lipstick more moisturizing to your lips, and they may include vitamin E and aloe vera.

The thing that sets each lipstick apart in most consumers' minds, however, is the pigment. Lipstick color can come from combinations of plant, animal, mineral or synthetic ingredients. The beetles mentioned in the first section of this article are the source of a color often listed as carmine or cochineal extract. Cochineal insects are killed by steam, dried, powdered and processed to create a bright crimson dye that's nontoxic and noncancerous, unlike some red dyes used in the past. Lipsticks may also contain preservatives such as alcohol, or other ingredients such as sunscreen and fragrance.

How Lipstick is Made?
Lipstick is prepared in batches. After being formulated, the ingredients must be carefully combined so that the entire batch has consistent color and texture. It's actually much like making crayons. The pigment and other dry ingredients are finely ground so they will be smooth and evenly distributed within the mixture, then combined with the heated oils. Once this mass is stirred, it's mixed with heated wax and the other ingredients. Finally, the hot liquid is poured into cold aluminum molds and then chilled until firm. Typically it's quickly passed through a flame to create a satiny finish, and then the lipsticks are inserted into their metal or plastic tubes and packaged.

Top 10 Lipstick Tips
1. Whenever you wear a red lipstick it is a great idea to conceal around the mouth area. A red lip focuses all the attention to the lip so it pays off if you take that extra time to conceal. Concealing will also make the lip more apparent giving the illusion of fuller lips.

2. Apply a Concealer on your lips when wearing a light pastel shade. Our lips are naturally pigmented hence by simply concealing the edges you can make your Lipstick shade appear better. Avoid using white to conceal. It is better to run a bit of foundation over the lips or conceal with a Concealer.

3. Frosted lipsticks are meant to make the lips look fuller but sometimes they can be a bit overpowering and emphasizes the cracks on the lips. Preferably use a cream lipstick and take a dab of a shimmer eye shadow applying it only in the center of the lips. Press lips to blend.

4. If your lipstick has trouble staying, then apply a bit of translucent powder on the lips in between coats. Apply one coat of lipstick, place a tissue on top, powder over the tissue with a brush making sure that the powder goes through the tissue. The powder will soak up excess oil and will help it to stay longer.

5. Matte lipsticks tend to be drying and can emphasize lines on the lips. To avoid it you can apply a thick lip gloss first, preferably one with no shimmer, dab it off. Then dab the lipstick on or apply with a brush. This way the gloss will fill in the lines on the lip.

6. If your lips are too full and you want them to look smaller than use a Concealer pencil around your lips, blend with your finger and use a dark lipstick on the inner part of your lips to desired shape. Don't over do it as it may seem obvious.

7. Use your finger to apply lipstick to give your lips a nice flush of color. When doing so it is better to apply the lipstick only to the inner part of the lips as the lips are naturally pigmented darker towards the ends. This will give your lips one color over all.

8. If you have bought a lipstick that is cool toned and want to make it warm toned then don't worry. Use the cool toned lipstick on your lips and then top it off with a warm toned gloss. If you are not into glosses then use a warm toned lipstick or a bronzing powder.

9. When using lip liner make sure that it is well blended into the lipstick. The best way to do this is to run your lip brush on the line where the Lip liner meets the lipstick. This will give a nice gradient for a sophisticated look.

10. Use a brush for a precision line. Lipstick bullets are of many shapes but not each is made for each lip. We all have different lip sizes hence using a brush will give a nice line. Use a brush especially when wearing red or dark lipsticks.

Lip Moisturizers For Healthier Looking Lips

Lip Moisturizers For Healthier Looking Lips

Your lips are a small but important part of your body. They help you eat, talk and communicate your feelings through your expressions. But they don't have as much natural protection as other parts of your skin do. It's no wonder, then, that so many products are targeted at keeping your lips moisturized and protecting them from the harsh conditions in your environment old winds, dry weather and damaging sunlight.

Hydration is important for your lips. Drinking plenty of water each day is a simple way to maintain healthy skin. During the winter, use a humidifier to combat dry indoor air and keep dehydration at bay. Your lips won't handle dehydration any better than other parts of your body, and chapped lips are often a result of a lack of fluids. Your lips also won't react well to harsh weather, including cold air, sun exposure or wind, so it helps to protect them. A scarf or a lip balm with sunscreen can keep the cold, the hot sun and blustery winds from wreaking havoc on your lips.

However, moisturizing lips is an important part of caring for your skin. Lips shouldn't crack when you smile or have a dull, dry appearance. That's where lip moisturizers come in. They add back necessary moisture to replace any natural oils that have been lost, and they should provide a protective layer to seal in the hydration and keep your lips from drying out again.

Choose the Best Lip Moisturizer?
So you need a lip product that will relieve your dry, chapped lips. However, it's easy to become overwhelmed by the wide variety of products, such as moisturizing glosses, moisturizing lipsticks, medicated lip balms, natural and organic lip balms, balms with fruity flavors and essential oils, and so on.

The first thing you need to decide is whether you want a lip moisturizer that also contains a little color. If so, you will be looking for lip glosses and lipsticks that have moisturizing ingredients, such as glycerin. Steer clear of matte or long-lasting lipsticks, as these can be drying and make your lips look even worse.

If you're not looking to add any color to your lips, you might turn your search to lip balms. Effective lip moisturizers contain emollients, which are ingredients that hydrate and soften skin. Some lip balms might also contain humectants ingredients that help skin hold more moisture. One of the most common emollients found in lip balms is petrolatum, a hydrocarbon mixture that is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for cosmetic use. Other emollients such as beeswax, cocoa butter and almond oil are popular ingredients in lip balms advertised as organic or natural. But if your skin tends to be oily or easily irritated, you might look for those that contain glycerin or water-based emollients.

Lip Moisturizers For Healthier Looking Lips

Many people try to save money by buying a lip moisturizer and lip color combined. While this can be a good idea, it is not wise if you will only use the product on certain days or for short periods of the day. This can also be more expensive because you may find yourself applying pricey lip color at times you normally would not do so just because you need lip moisturizer.

In addition to deciding what kind of ingredients you want your lip moisturizer to contain, you also need to consider whether to use a product that contains a fragrance. So many lip balms and glosses are formulated with specific flavors or scents, but if you are concerned mainly with moisturizing your lips, then less fragrance is better. Many fragrances, including popular ones such as peppermint and camphor, can cause skin irritation or drying. With so much to consider in selecting a moisturizer, you might be wondering whether such a product is even necessary. Surely you could make it through a dry winter just by licking your lips to keep them hydrated?  Keep reading to find out why a proper lip moisturizer is important for your lip health.

Importance of Lip Moisturizers

At this point, You really need a lip moisturizer at all. The answer to that question has to do with the unique nature of lips. For one thing, the skin on your lips is very thin. The blood supply is very close to the surface, which is why lips appear pink or red. In addition, your lips don't contain any oil glands, so they don't produce any natural oils like the rest of your skin does. As a result, lips tend to become dehydrated and chapped more quickly than the rest of your skin would.

Lip Moisturizers For Healthier Looking Lips

To make matters worse, you might think you're adding moisture when you lick your dry lips, but the relief is only temporary. Once the saliva dries, it takes with it any natural moisture on your lips, leaving them even drier than before so the more you lick your lips, the drier they become. An effective lip moisturizer needs to do what sebum, your skin's natural oil, does for the rest of your skin. Keep moisture in and protect lips from any drying environmental conditions. In addition to these natural causes and your environment, dehydrated lips can also be caused by certain medications. Choosing a lip moisturizer is an important decision and worth a little effort to help keep your smile soft and supple.

How to Treat Dry & Chapped Lips?
The best way to protect your lips is to keep them covered. Remember, chapped lips are not going to disappear immediately. What you need is a dedicated and diligent routine of treating your lips and restoring the moisture within.

Protect against Sun Damage
Sun damage is one of the prime causes of dry lips. The UV rays of the sun can wreck havoc on your lips throughout the day, be it a bright sunny day or even if its dark and cloudy. Therefore, its important to use a well-formulated emollient lip balm, lip gloss, or lipstick with an SPF 15 of greater that contain sun protecting ingredients like titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or avobenzone.

Nourish your Lips at Night
At night, before you go to bed, make sure that you apply an emollient lip balm or clear thick gloss to your lips. However, don't use lip care products that contain skin irritants such as menthol, camphor, peppermint, or citrus or those that are highly fragranced. These ingredients have no real benefit for the lips and only serve to cause potential problems.

Lip Color And Lip Stain for Perfect Lips

Lip Color And Lip Stain for Perfect Lips

Lip color is essential to makeup applications. When choosing a lip color take into consideration your skin tone, eye color and lip shape. For the most flattering lipstick choose a color that is one or two shades darker than your skin tone. Here are the general rules for lipstick selection. If you have light skin (fair skin) should choose neutral or nude, pinks and coral colors. Medium skin tones look great with deep mauve, burgundy, and rose colors. If your skin is dark you have a little more flexibility a lighter color such as champagne or walnut colors are ideal during the day and darker colors such as deep purples or wine colors for the evening. Applying lip color can be a little tricky; we are used to applying lip color by taking our lipstick and going around in a complete circle or the back and forth method on each lip. You should apply your lipstick starting at the outer corner of the upper lip stopping in the middle. Repeat on the opposite side. Connect the center peak of the lips using rounded strokes. Be sure to follow the natural lip line. Repeat the same steps for the bottom lip.

Lip color is intended to give the lips a tint that mimics the blush/arousal response. Of course, modern applications are often much more vibrant than whatever color change could occur in a natural response. Even so, these new colors are often flattering and attractive.

Lip Color And Lip Stain for Perfect Lips

Applying lip color is simple, but often takes some practice to master with any skill. The upper lip is typically the starting point and the lip color is drawn around the perimeter of the lips, starting with one of the peaks to either side of the philtrum and drawing the color toward the corner of the mouth, and repeating the move on the opposite side. Then the color is applied along the outer portions of the lower lip from center to corner and an added swipe is applied to fill-in the fleshier portion of the lower lip as needed.

Lip color applications range from simple, blotted-on stains to combinations of lip pencil, lipstick, and gloss. The right shade works with the skin tone and complements the natural color of the lips.  You can choose from a wide range of product formulas, which include matte, sheer, shimmery, and creamy lipsticks and glosses.
Applying Lip Color

Here are a few tips to help extend the wear of your lip color:
• Line and fill in lips with a pencil that matches your natural lip color. The liner will act as a base color to hold your lipsticks and glosses in place longer. Plus, you'll avoid that unsightly ring around your mouth as the lip color inevitably fades.

• To prevent the lip color from bleeding and to extend the wear of your lipstick, try a lip stain. It provides a great base prior to applying your lipsticks, and also works well under lip gloss.

• Keep lips moisturized at night with lip balm to prevent dry lips so that your lip color will adhere to lips better.

Lip stain is a cosmetic product which is designed to stain the lips with long-lasting color which will resist wear. Unlike lipstick, it does not contain wax. Many cosmetics companies offer a line of lip stains with their cosmetics products, and people can also make their own.

The idea behind lip stains is to temporarily saturate the lips with color with a dye, rather than applying a colored wax to the lips to color them. A lip stain is usually designed to be waterproof so that the color will be long lasting, and once the stain dries, it should not smear, stain, wear unevenly, or transfer to the teeth. A lip stain may come in a bottle with an applicator which is used to brush the stain onto the lips, and it can also come in a small jar, with users applying the stain with a finger or a cosmetic brush.

While a lip stain colors the lips, it will not necessarily provide sheen or gloss. Some products are bundled with a moisturizer which will keep the lips moist, and a lip stain can also be blended with a plumper for a more pouty look, or a gloss which will make the lips shiny. Lip stain can also be applied as an under-layer before applying lip gloss, so that lips will be moisturized, glossy, and more visible.

Lip Stains
Lip stains come in a range of colors, from various shades of red to browns, blacks, blues, greens, and other shades. As with lipstick, it is a good idea to test a lip stain before applying it to make sure that it works well with the wearer's skin tone. The best way to test is to apply a small amount of a sample to the hand. Consumers can also ask for advice from the staff at a cosmetics counter. The staff may also provide hints and suggestions for applying lip stains and creating interesting looks with makeup.

Lip stain differs from lipstick in the lack of wax; this cosmetic product is designed to stain the lips with color which will be longer lasting, and won’t smudge as easily as a lipstick would. A lip stain can be used as an everyday cosmetic if the color is light or it can be heavily applied to give a greater impact. Lip Stain will let the lip color stay on your lips for a longer time than your lipstick. Lip Stain is a simple substitute for your lipstick.

Lip Stains

Applying a Lip stain might be difficult at the onset. But once you get a hang of it, applying a lip stain is as easy as applying a lip color. Following these simple tips you will be able to apply lip stain and go on with your day without having to constantly re-apply color.

1. Because lip stain tends to dry out you lips a little bit, I recommend having a serious daily lip moisturizing ritual and sticking to it. At night, when you’re applying face cream, massage some moisturizer into your lips too.

2. It is mandatory to exfoliate your lips before applying a lip stain. Daily exfoliating might not be necessary but you require to do away with the dead skin by exfoliating your lips. The surface of the dry lips get smoothened by exfoliating it.

3. It would be best to apply lip stains on a hydrated lip surface. Try by applying a lip balm, and thereafter apply the lip stain.

4. Use a lip liner before and after the lip stain application.

5. Do apply another color or formula lip stick over a lip stain.

6. Apply the lip stain the same way you would lipstick center to corner for both upper and lower lips.

7. A brown eyebrow pencil makes a great lip liner.

8. Be fast in applying your lip stain as it dries up quickly and for reapplication you need to be fast.

9. Before applying the lip gloss, you should let the lip stain dry up quickly. Reapplying the lip stain or putting up the lip gloss must be done accordingly with your make up requirements.

Let Your Natural Beauty Shine With Lip Liner

Let Your Natural Beauty Shine With Lip Liner

Lip liner is a cosmetic product used to outline and define the lips. Available from dozens of brands and in a rainbow of colors, lip liner can be applied to create subtle enhancement or make a bold statement. Makeup experts are split on the proper use of lip liner; like many cosmetic products, its popularity waxes and wanes in accordance with current fashions. Lip liners come in varied forms, mostly pencil, but the size of the pencils and the creaminess varies from brand to brand. It's ultimately a question of personal choice. In any case, there is one inalienable truth when it comes to lip liners: They are useless unless they are sharpened.

Most lip liners resemble a pen or pencil in design. Pencil lip liners typically need periodic sharpening to retain correct shape and enable easy applications. Liquid or pen-like liners sometimes include a mechanism to push more liner up through the applicator as needed. It is also possible to have permanent lip liner through the use of tattoos and permanent makeup application. All lip-liner pencils are not created equal. If, as you draw the pencil across your lips, your lip goes with it, the formula is far too dry. The pencil should glide smoothly across the lip surface, leaving a fairly strong pigment.

Lip liner is often used in conjunction with lipstick or lip gloss, to create a fuller, more filled-in appearance. Because the skin texture around the edge of the mouth can be somewhat uneven, lipstick can sometimes be difficult to apply evenly. Some people may also use liner out of a desire to create more definition around the edge of the mouth, or even to create an altered lip shape.

According to some makeup experts, lip liner should be matched with lipstick and should not be more than one shade darker or lighter. Typically, the product is used before applying lipstick or gloss, to give a defined outline for these secondary products. To make lips appear larger, color can be drawn on just outside of the natural line of the mouth. A smaller mouth can be achieved by drawing lip liner just inside the natural edge of lips. Lipstick is then applied inside the defined area for a completed look.

Choose the Best Lip Liner Color?

As lip liner is literally the foundation for lipstick, it should be chosen carefully. Though many women simply buy a lip liner color they’ve seen advertised in a magazine, not every lip liner looks good on everyone. As many varieties of lipstick there are, there are just as many lip liners. When choosing yours, pick a lip liner color that easily blends in with your lipstick. When applied correctly, lip liner can help define lips while preventing lip color from disappearing throughout the day.

Before you choose a lip liner color, take your lipstick shade into consideration. Experts suggest shopping for lip color sans makeup. A lipstick that looks great next to your skin in its most natural element is sure to make your lips look even better when you are wearing makeup. If you can’t decide, a neutral color can work for anyone.

Lip liner color comes in a variety of materials, including standard pencil, lip smudge, lip paint, and permanent lip liner. Most women choose standard lip liner pencil one that has been well sharpened as it draws the most precise lip lines. If you’re looking for an all-over color to set all night long, lining first with a pencil, filling in second with a lip smudge, and topping with lipstick and gloss is a common routine. Regardless of what color lipstick you choose, lip liner should typically be one to two shades darker than your lipstick.

Even if you have small, tight lips, lip liner can help enhance them. Many thin-lipped women fear lip liner because they think it will make their lips look darker, thus shrinking them even more. The right lip liner color, though, can help do just the opposite. If you have thin lips, choose a lip pencil color just one shade darker than your lipstick color. Additionally, using a shiny or slightly sparkly top coat can emphasize lip fullness.

Deciding whether you have fair, medium, or dark skin always helps, too. If your skin is fair with pinkish undertones, pick a shade anywhere between nude, coral, and apricot pink. For skin that’s a bit warmer or tanner, mauves, blushes, and rose lip liner colors should work well. For dark or black skin, brown or purple lip liner shades are best, while splashes of wine colors at night can really brighten things up.

When applying lip liner color, use the pencil to line your lips. When drawing the line, gently brush the pencil in sweeping strokes. This will create a more natural line. While doing this, be sure to hug the outer edges of the lips, in order to emphasize their shape. The more defined an edge, the more dramatic the look. While perfection isn't a necessity, any dark smudges may show through your lipstick top coat.

Applying The Lip Liner
Applying the liner in one solid stroke is fine for those already adept at lip liner application. But for novices, it can be easy to distort the line of the lip accidentally. Also, keep your mouth slightly open as you apply, since this keeps the lips closest to their natural shape. If you are trying to alter the shape of your lips-we'll tell you how later-still follow your lips' natural shape with lip liner for the preliminary application. Changing the shape will require you to build on the shape you already have.

Once you have drawn the basic shape of your lips, step away from the mirror and take a look at yourself from a distance. Taking a step baok is a good thing to do at numerous points in the process of applying makeup, since most people are not going to look at you while standing three inches from your face. Stepping back helps you keep a sense of balance and a lighter (or heavier, when needed) hand in terms of the overall impact you are creating.

The Art Of Lining Your Lips With Lip Liners:

1. Thin Lips: Outline just outside of the natural lip line with desired shade of lip liner. Avoid matte shades of lip color as they make lips look thinner. Shimmers, Ices, Diamonds, and plenty of lip Gloss make lips look fuller.

2. Uneven Lips: To balance, outline outside of the thinner half of the lip - and along the natural line of the fuller half with desired shade of lip liner.. Fill in with long lasting Lip Gloss.

3. Shapeless Lips: Create definition by drawing a cupid’s bow. Outline the top lip with desired shade of Lip Liner to emphasize the ‘m’. Outline outside of the lower lip to make it look fuller. Complete with favorite shade of lip color and Gloss.

Application & Wear Tips
• Always use a freshly sharpened pencil. Dull pencils = muddy lip line.

• Start with dry, but moisturized lips. If lipstick is your last step of make-up application (after all of your foundation, mascara, etc) - then the very first thing you should do is a light coat of lip balm. This way it was have time to absorb and dry a bit before application of your liner.

• Don’t work with the very tip of the pencil. This can make your line too harsh, and too pigmented. Play with your angle of application so you are using just to the side of the top point. The finished line will look softer and a little more natural.

• Small lips? Don’t be afraid to go a little outside the lines and create the lips you weren’t born with. Just be cautious and work slowly, until you have a symmetrical pout.

• To help evenly lining the bottom lip, smile tightly with your mouth slightly ajar. This makes your lip taught and easier to see the defining line from lip to chin.

• Be sure to change your perspective. The goal of lip liner is not only to create a base for your lipstick, but to even up what mother nature didn’t. Be sure to look at your lips from different angles, lowering your head, raising your head, slightly to the side, while talking or laughing. It will help you catch unevenness that you didn’t even know was there.

• Some lipsticks stain. Watch out for anything excessively dark or with a purple base. To prevent, after creating your perfect line, fill your lips with liner to create a barrier in-between the lipstick and your skin. You can also use this trick when using a lipstick that isn’t high on the last-ability scale. It’ll help your lips seam evenly pigmented between trips to the powder room.

• Use a your neutral/natural liner even under gloss, or a sheer color. It’ll give your look subtle transformation that’ll up the VaVoom factor.

• Are you cheating voluptuous lips? Whenever you try to make your pout more full by exaggerating the lines, finish off by taking a white eyeliner and softly lining and smudging along the cupid’s bow, the peaks and valley of your upper lip. It’ll add the illusion of that natural highlight full lips posses.

Different Shades Of Lip Glosses

Various Sparkling Lip Glosses

Lip gloss is a type of cosmetic product applied to the lips to make them appear shinier and smoother. Lip gloss may be colored and provide a tint to the lips, similar to lipstick, or it may be clear and only provide a bit of shine. Lip glosses are a popular part of many makeup routines; they differ slightly from lip balm, however, in that lip balm is typically designed to protect and condition the lips without providing much shine or any color tint.

In addition to color, many lip glosses offer other benefits as well. Some contain ingredients designed to moisturize and soften the lips, while others may contain sunscreen to protect the lips from UV damage. This is especially important, because the shininess of lip gloss tends to attract sunlight, which can lead to burns, wrinkles, or even skin cancer. Lip glosses generally contain sunscreen from approximately SPF 5 to SPF 15; lip balms may contain higher a higher sun protection factor.

Various Sparkling Lip Glosses

Lip gloss is jell like substance that moist lip, providing a shining look and also protects lip from dryness. It can be applied with lipstick or it can wear alone. Before selecting the best lip gloss, you must be aware of different type of lip glosses available. There are several lip glosses available including shiny lip glosses and creamy lip glosses. Lip gloss generally contains ingredients such as glycerin, Aloe Vera, vitamin E and oil ingredients. Lip gloss with oil ingredient can provide shininess to lips and a lustrous look.

Different shades of lip glosses are available in different colors and finishes. Various sparkling lip glosses such as slight sparkling and extreme sparkling lip glosses are available. Slight sparkling is best for women of all ages. Extreme sparkle lip gloss is ideal for teenage girls. Neutral tone lip glosses are best for office going women. Always choose bold color lip gloss for evening outings and parties. You can choose the right lip gloss that matches your lip color. There are numerous types of gloss; plumping lip gloss, glitter, color or no color and some even have flavors.

Different Shades Of Lip Glosses

The purpose of a true lip gloss is to provide a mild glossy luster. The product texture ranges from a soft, smooth solid to a mostly translucent liquid. A gloss can be tinted to provide a frosted, glittery, glassy or metallic finish. Some glosses contain sunscreen protection and small amounts of moisturisers.

Most lip glosses are made predominately from oils, not waxes and butters like lip balms are although small amounts of these waxes and butters can be found in quite a few glosses. Ingredients in lip glosses can vary quite a lot but most lip glosses will contain many of the following;

• Castor seed oil: A natural oil obtained from the seeds of Ricinus Communis. This ingredient gives emolliency and gloss to the lips.

• Sunflower seed oil: Produced from oil type sunflower seeds. Like other oils, can retain moisture in the skin.

• Cetyl acetate: Gives emollience and gloss to the lips. It is also a conditioner of dry, chapped lips.

• Sweet almond oil: Extracted from the seeds of Almond. Has a very light, sweet nutty aroma and is generally used as a base and acts as a great emollient.

• Apricot kernel oil: Extracted from apricots kernels. Prevents dehydration of the skin.

• Coconut oil: Helps keep skin soft and smooth.

• Grape seed oil: Possesses astringent qualities and thus helps tighten and tone the skin and is a wonderful moisturizer.

• Shea butter: A slightly yellowish or ivory colored natural fat extracted from the seed of the shea tree. Shea Butter nourishes the skin with Vitamins A, E and F. Vitamins A and E help maintain the skin and keep it clear and healthy. They are particularly helpful for sun damaged skin.

• Silica: This is normally used as an absorbent powder and thickening agent

• Aroma's: For some delicious smells.

• Flavors: Occasionally used to flavor the product to enhance the experience, especially when kissing.......

• Colors: Colors are used to enhance the look of the gloss. Sometimes a strong colour, or tint, is used to significantly change the color of the lips.

• SPF protective additives: These ingredients offer some SPF protection. Regular re-application is needed to maintain sun protection as any lip product wears off reasonably quickly. Best to limit your exposure to the sun in the first place!

Most Common Ingredients in Lip Gloss
Some of the most common ingredients in lip gloss are wax, petroleum jelly, and oil. Another main ingredient is polybutene, which creates that shiny quality lip gloss often has. Color additives and fragrances are also commonly included. Many cosmetic companies also use some nourishing ingredients in lip gloss, such as natural plant extracts and vitamins A, C, and E. Natural and chemical preservatives are also commonly added to make the product last longer and prevent bacteria from breeding.

Typically, the combination of wax, petroleum jelly, and oil accounts for more than 50% of the ingredients in lip gloss. The wax used in the product is often naturally derived, such as beeswax, carnuba wax, and candelilla wax, while the oil can either come from plant or mineral sources. The petroleum jelly, on the other hand, is actually the refined and processed form of crude oil. The ratio of each of these ingredients generally dictates the form and solidity of the lip gloss. For example, the cream-type of lip gloss contained in small pots generally contains less petroleum jelly and wax, in comparison to the tube or stick variety.

Different Shades Of Lip Glosses

Other ingredients in lip gloss are some vitamins, doubling the product as a lip balm that nourishes the lips. Vitamin E, for example, helps moisturize and protect the lips, while vitamin C can prevent the lips from being chapped and discolored. Vitamin A, on the other hand, encourages cell regeneration and reduces lip wrinkles. Some lip gloss also contain titanium dioxide to provide protection from the sun, as the skin on the lips is very thin and sensitive.

Choose the Best Lip Gloss Color?
Choosing the best lip gloss color requires looking at the natural hue of the lips and shooting for a color slightly darker, as well as considering the overall skin tone a person has, what the person will wear and the time of day the individual will wear the gloss. If properly selected, a good lip gloss color will improve a person's appearance.

In general, the simplest way to pick a lip gloss color is to look in a mirror and see what the natural color of the lips is, finding a lip gloss that is roughly one to two shades darker than the natural color. The idea with this technique is not unlike the rule of choosing a hair color shade one to three shades darker or lighter than the natural hair color, with the goal to keep the color looking natural. This method works because it uses an analogous color scheme, meaning that the lip shade and gloss shade are very close to each other, or in the same family, on a color wheel. An analogous lip gloss color should still compliment the hues in the skin because it doesn't deviate far from an individual's lip color, simply enhancing it.

Once an individual has a sense of the colors that are acceptable given her natural lip shade and skin tone, the next step is to assess when and with what she'll wear the gloss. Lighter colors are more appropriate for daytime work, with professional settings especially calling for an inconspicuous color. Darker colors are better suited for evening wear. A lip gloss color typically should not match what a person is wearing perfectly, so it might be necessary to switch shades based on the selected outfit.

Lip Gloss Tips And Tricks
One way to give your lips an attractive shimmer and hint of color is by applying lip gloss. Glosses work well to give the lips a hint of vitality, without being as heavy as lipsticks and lip stains. Also, glosses make lips appear fuller, providing a pouty allure. Before applying gloss, it can be helpful to learn about application tricks and some of the key available varieties.

1. Achieve Glamorous Full Lips
If your lips are on the thin side, an easy trick to make them appear plumper is to apply it over the middle of your lips. This easy technique gives the optical illusion of juicier lips.

2. Make Sure Your Lip Gloss Lasts
Lip gloss can be frustrating when it wears off so quickly, especially after meals. One savvy application trick to consider is applying a light coating of face powder over the gloss. This prevents melting and smudging of the gloss. To eliminate any excess powder, gently blot the lips with tissue.

3. Enhance Your Lip Color With Gloss
If you want to make your lips the focal point of your makeup look, consider applying a sheer gold or silver gloss directly over your preferred lipstick. This will help make your mouth "pop."

4. Apply in Moderation if Your Lips are Already Full
The point of gloss is to accentuate the lips. If your lips are already full, apply sparingly and don't over do it.

5. Moisturize and Protect Your Lips
Dry, sore, and chapped lips are not an attractive look on anybody. Avoid that possibility by applying a gloss that hydrates, regenerates, and offers sun protection.

6. Plump Up Your Pout
For lips that are even fuller, apply a plumping gloss that increases lip volume similar to collagen lip enhancement procedures.

7. PamperYour Lips With an Organic Gloss
If you yearn for shiny and lustrous lips, but also wish to avoid cosmetic products that contain synthetic colors and flavors, phthalates, and parabens, go for an organic item.

Lip Balm - Give Your Lips A soothing And Smooth Feel

Lip Balm - For chapped or dry lips

Lip balm is a wax-like substance applied topically to the lips of the mouth to relieve chapped or dry lips. The primary purpose of lip balm is to provide an occlusive layer on the lip surface to seal moisture in lips and protect them from external exposure. Occlusive materials like waxes and petroleum jelly prevent moisture loss and maintain lip comfort while flavorants, colorants, sunscreens, and various medicaments can provide additional, specific benefits. Lip balm can be applied where a finger is used to apply it to the lips, or in a lipstick-style tube from which it can be applied directly.  This product is different from lip gloss and lipstick, both of which usually serve only a cosmetic purpose. Lip balm, in addition to adding a sheen to the lips, also aims to fight chapping and to protect the sensitive skin of the lips from sunburn.

Lip balm is a substance put on the lips to give relief to dry, or chapped, lips. It may also be used to help soothe certain other situations, such as cold sores. The balm may be made with any number of ingredients, but usually includes something like petroleum jelly or beeswax, as well as scented oils, and sometimes medicinal herbs or medicinal compounds. It can also have things like vitamins and minerals included, in theory to help support the health of the lips, and many types include sunscreen to help prevent sun damage to the sensitive skin on the lips. Lip balms come in different formulation and varieties with others containing flavour, dyes, fragrance, menthol, sunscreens and such.

Lip Blam

The sun, wind, cold weather and heat can all cause the lips to become chapped or burnt. Licking the lips, breathing through the mouth, and even illness may also contribute to the problem. All of these things cause the lips to become dehydrated, which leads to chapped lips. If the condition gets bad enough, lips can crack, peel or bleed, and this could cause an infection.

Unlike many other areas of the epidermis, the lips have no oil glands in them, and so they do not naturally produce oils to keep the skin moisturized. At the same time, the layer of skin on the lips is extremely thin, and prone to all sorts of damage. Before turning to lip balm, there are a number of passive steps that can be taken to try to reduce dryness, chapped lips, and damage. If these steps fail to take care of the problem, however, lip products can be a good solution.

Covering the mouth with a scarf when going outside during cold weather, putting sunscreen on the lips and avoiding licking them are some ways to prevent them from getting chapped. Drinking more liquids to remain hydrated is also helpful. However, they may still become dry and burnt in spite of these precautions.

Lip balms are used to provide moisture by locking it in the external layer of the lips to help protect it from drying due to cold temperatures and external exposure. It consists of occlusive materials such as petroleum jelly and wax; known ingredients that are proven to be effective in moisture retention.

When lips become chapped or cracked, balms are an effective way to help repair them. Most balms contain many of the same ingredients. Some include beeswax or a similar substance which coats the lips and seals in moisture. Other balms contain ingredients such as lanolin, mineral oil, petrolatum, tea tree oil, glycerin, or shea butter which helps them stay moisturized. Sunscreen is often found in balms because exposure to the sun can cause chapped lips.

Some balms that are good for burnt, cracked or bleeding lips contain menthol, camphor or phenol which helps soothe pain. These types of products include Neosporin Lip Treatment, ChapStick Medicated Lip Balm and Blistex Medicated Lip Balm.

While many of the balms contain similar products, some have been rated more highly than others by users. Carmex is consistently reported by consumers to be some of the best non-medicated balms available for chapped lips.

Chapstick Lip Blam

Other balms that are reported to be useful in repairing chapped lips include Neutrogena Lip Moisturizer SPF 15, Kiss My Face Organics Lip Balm SPF 15, Aveeno Lip Conditioner Essential Moisture SPF 15 and Vaseline Lip Therapy.

Benefits Of Using Lip Balm

1. Your skin heals faster: The skin on your lips is thinner than your facial skin. So in case you are suffering from chapped and dry lips, using a lip balm will ensure that your lips are well hydrated and they heal faster.

2. You avoid the embarrassment of chapped lips: If you've ever experienced chapped, peeling and cracked lips, you will know exactly how embarrassing it is. During the winters, this thin layer is easily licked off. In combination with cold and windy weather, this often leads to chapped and dry lips. Thus it is mandatory to wear a lip balm.

3. They'll appear suppler
: Thin and dry lips turn plump and moisturised with a sweep of balm giving your lips the perfect movie star pout! There are plenty of lip glosses that claim to plump your lips, but moisturising them every day is a great way to ensure that you maintain a youthful, supple look.

4. Contains SPF protection too: Most of the lip balms these days, have SPF in them. This will automatically help your lips from becoming dry and chapped and will protect against the harmful rays of the sun as well.

Lip balm is a special treatment designed to add moisture to the lips and improve their condition. Lips can become dry easily, particularly in cold weather. A lip balm soothes and hydrates the lips. Some lip balm ingredients also help protect the lips from developing further damage.

Lip Care Products

Petroleum jelly -
It is found in almost every lip balm available. It sometimes appears on lip balm ingredients lists as petrolatum. It is widely used in balms in conjunction with hydrating ingredients to help seal in moisture and form a protective barrier.

Cocoa butter - It is one of the most popular lip balm ingredients thanks to its creamy texture and superior moisturizing abilities. It is also inexpensive and non-irritating. Cocoa butter not only provides hydration, but also forms a seal to help the lips retain moisture. It leaves lips feeling soft and smooth

Beeswax - Many natural lip balms use beeswax for this purpose instead of petrolatum. Beeswax is a natural emulsifier that keeps moisture inside the lips and is unlikely to cause allergic reactions. Due to the healing components of beeswax, it has become a staple ingredient of many make-ups and cosmetic products. These include not only lip balms, but also cold creams, lotions, cleansing creams, nail creams, depilatories, eye and face make-up and the likes. Beeswax is also considered non-comodogenic; therefore, if used properly, you can be sure that use of this product won't clog your skin pores and result to pimples or acne. It's got a zero irritation potential and is non allergenic. However, use of products made up of beeswax is contraindicated to people with oily skin. Also, people who are allergic to bees should refrain from using lip balms with bees wax as ingredients to avoid any possible interaction.
